Join the G10

Have you any questions?

We want the G10 Humanities Club to be an exciting part of school life—good company, exciting discussions, debates and making links with social scientists worldwide.

At what time does the G10 run?

The club runs on Wednesdays between 3:15 and 4:00 pm. Regular weekly meetings will focus on ONE significant project per semester. Semester 1 is the ANZAC DAY SCHOOLS’ AWARD, a national Humanities competition. The meetings plan events around the school, in the local community and online international interviews.

What are we planning in Term 1?

The Anzac Day Schools’ Award project is very dynamic. It’s about making the ANZAC DAY an essential date in the school calendar. To do this, the G10 members get to do three tasks:

  1. Find new ways of telling the story of Gallipoli. For example, tell stories of how Australian soldiers fought alongside New Zealanders (Pakeha and Maori) and Indian soldiers.
  2. Interview local veterans to raise awareness of the importance of their service to our Australian way of life. In turn, G10 members will interview State-based, national and international historians who collect and archive the stories of veterans.
  3. Create classroom commemoration services leading up to the Anzac Day holiday. These will run in Year 7 – 12 Humanities classes in Week 1 of Term 2.

How will becoming a G10 member benefit you?

  • You will:
  • Feel the power of working with others on an exciting social science project.
  • Win acclaim for attempting to win a national award.
  • Gain confidence in learning interviewing skills and speaking to people in the local community.
  • Making contact online with archivists, museum personnel and Gallipoli historians internationally.
  • Get a CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION to record in your CV.
